I've used three different ways to record traffic using the SDS100. The first is to press FCTN then RECORD on the scanner itself, but then it records everything. The second way is to use the Sangean DAR-101, but then it records everything.

Here's the thing though, I'm only interested in recording traffic on one channel. As you can see below, the third way is to set ProScan to record this entry...

Now for some strange reason, I cannot get the PC's internal mic jack to work, but I can use my USB FiFine microphone, but I'd rather have a direct connection, and then listen through the PC's speakers. So my question is, do any of you use a dedicated USB sound card as your interface between the SDS100's earphone jack and the USB port on your computer? If so, which one do you use? There are many cheap ones on Ebay, but I don't feel like gambling.

THANKS!

Check the Win Mixer Microphone (image #1 ) shows plugged in and enabled. If not then that has to be troubleshoot.
If still no go then check the Win Privacy settings (image #2) "Let desktop apps access your microphone" is enabled and the ProScan Icon shows.

It works on the laptop, but nothing on my main PC. The Realtek microphone input has always been problematic on my XPS box, which is why I went with Fifine USB microphone. It's also nice to be able to listen through the laptops speakers, although it makes noise when scanning through the channels that I cannot seem to mute.

Still, it records everything or nothing, I guess I need to play around more.

Waiting for results 🙃🤣

This is freaking weird. The new Sabrent device works just fine with a microphone plugged in, but it does not like the scanners audio output. It's not the scanner though as the scanners output works just fine with the Sangean DAR-101 voice recorder.

All the settings are set properly as well. If I max out all the settings I do get a low broken audio with the speakers cranked up to the max, but the recordings are all blank. I've tried everything. I guess it's either using the scanners recording feature or the DAR-101.

I also tried the scanners output after trying the microphone with a seperate recording program and it still did not work properly. So the it's not a problem with ProScan. My computer or the Sabrent device simply does not like the scanner. Fortunately I'm not out much.

It works here. You do have a stereo audio cable connected from the scanner to the sound input. Correct?
Is your Win Mixer like this. The Sabrent device is the last item. Make sure it shows default. Go to Properties then Listen then click the "Listen to this device" See if you hear audio out of the speakers. Also go to the ProScan Audio Control - Monitor & Test. Choose Recorder then click the Loopback option. You should hear audio out of the speakers.

Nearest I can tell, there is some sort of grounding issue when the scanners USB interface is connected the same time as the audio cable going to the USB sound card. The audio levels do come up, but there is a heck of a racket when scanning. When the scanners USB cable is removed, the audio drastically levels decrease while it does become more legible, but there is a pronounced AC hum.

Below is a very short video (1:32) showing the issue.

Here's the result. The ground loop isolator does the job on the laptop! Everything works perfectly, audio-wise, but it records all traffic, not just the frequencies I have set and want. I guess I'll have to live with that.

Now no matter what I do, it refuses to work on my main computer. Oh well.

Anyway it's nice to listen through the laptop speakers instead of the SDS100's internal speaker.

Thanks for the help guys. (y)

Ensure that the ProScan Recorder option "Lookup Record Flag From Database" is set and the System level parameter "Record" is set to Marked Channels and not All Channels.

What exactly doesn't work?

The audio level is simply not useable on the XPS. Now, since everything is working on the laptop, I'm going to leave it as is.

What type of scanner?
Is the problem on the audio or data side?
Do you have the Recorder button pressed?
