Seeing this in the TG sections and I've noticed I don't think I've ever heard any comms on CO DTRS system.
I hear Fort Carson regularly and Schriever and at times Cheyenne Mtn. But don't believe I've ever heard anything on USAFA
Where do all their comms reside?
Thanks!

I'm not sure what comms you are asking but Air Force Academy Fire and Rocky Mtn EMS are on the El Paso Red for dispatches on their grounds. Any fireground traffic on their grounds with only their units are done on the AFA system which is partially encrypted. When they run on their first due area on the interstate between between Woodmen and Academy Blvd up to just south of the Baptist Road interchange or occasionally goes into El Paso Co mutual aid, they operate on EPSO Red or C zones. CSFD, AMR and El Paso Search and Rescue goes to Red or C zones when they go Mutual Aid with AFA on the interstate as well. To my knowledge, El Paso and CSFD and AMR units do not have access to the Air Force Academy 380 system.

Also, the few times AFA does go into the city for any call, they do come up on CSFD talkgroups.

Can't speak for the Air Force Academy specifically, but Almost ALL US-based Air Force bases and ancillary facilities are 100% "E" Encrypted for Police and Fire.

Luke Air Force Base in AZ is not encrypted for channel 1 / Dispatch; channel 2 / Crash; channel 3 / Structure and Fire; channel 4 / Off Base Response; and channel 5 /Training & Drills.

They do have the capacity for it.

52020 Security Forces is definitely Full Encryption. Still not sure which talk group uses when they are off DTRS Red or C zones.

I also do not know any information on any other system Rocky Mountain EMS uses when not on DTRS Red or C zones.

Heard dispatch in the clear (not the mobiles) last week. Must be selective if they choose? Who knows...

I replied at 9:39pm MST and its now 10:53 pm. Ive been logged in and watching replies since my post. I have not heard LE AFA dispatch on my BCD325P2 since I posted this reply. I guess your right that they may be using full time encryption now since I haven't heard traffic stops or domestic calls since then. They have many domestic calls on that base.

Fun story. I enrolled to drive for Uber 6 years ago as a side gig. I worked Uber for 5 years to make extra money to pay off our existing home bank home loan. Im now a debt free and a home owner thanks to Uber! :)

Anyways when I accepted an Uber call late after midnight in 2019 to the air force academy north gate years back it turned out to be a DUI case. The Security Forces stopped a car (my Uber call) entering the north gate. He was a retired E7 SFC Army guy. His retired airforce friend vouched for him to get on the Academy USAFA camp ground site for his family and camper. The day watch AFA SF told him that no one looks or cares about letting former retired military members on to the post after a "good" night out. I cannot confirm the story as he told it. He was over the limit and ElPaso County sheriffs didn't have the resources at the time to take him into custody so the SF at the AFA academy issued a formal DWI citation to appear in court and released him on his own recognizance. When I pulled up the AFA SF looked at me like "WTF are you pulling up to our scene this late at night to the Northgate gate parking lol. I had a BalckVue dash cam rolling in my car at the time (I got he video :) saved for the record) on this incident but I won't release it here because I am also former military (veteran) and its not right in my mind to show a former soldiers demise on social media. Anyways he was "released" with the DUI citation and I drove him, his wife and another friend to a local undisclosed hotel in the springs.

Hope he made it through these hard times!
