    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued.     To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

    This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Info on Daniels/Codan Repeaters

I have a Daniels MT-3 repeater that I need some help with. Daniels, now Codan, is a Canadian company that makes very high quality repeaters that are popular with wildland fire folks and other public safety organizations. I received this one after another local jurisdiction surplus'd it. It is in like new condition, other than a tantalum capacitor that blew. My problem is finding any service/tech manuals for it. Codan no longer supports these repeaters, but were able to help me out with a few documents, but I'm still looking for more info on them.

This particular repeater has the following modules:

UT-3 transmitter
UR-3 receiver
SM-3 System monitor
Daniels Programmer
ET-3 Case
Daniels system rack

If anyone knows of a source for info, other than Codan, please give me a shout.

There is not a lot out there in the wild. Check repeater builder, they have a bit but not much, the other place I would suggest is getting in touch with the Yukon Amateur Radio Association, there VHF network in Northern Canada is comprised, almost exclusively, of Daniels repeaters, as Daniels discontinued the MT-3 series, they bought up the last of their stock.

Good luck, they are probably one of the best repeater money can buy. They really shine in mountain tops... Operate over a very broad voltage range. In a well protected site, with proper grounding and lightning protection, the repeater will probably out last the duplexer.

I would have Daniels, long before Motorola, Vertex, Icom, Kenwood, Harris or almost any other manufacturer but Tait comes in a close second.

The only down side is that they come at a high premium compared to other brands... The price is worth it though.
