Info on ship Tampa area

I am currently staying in Madeira Beach and when i look to the west into the Gulf, i can see a large ship that looks like it may be a floating dry dock or something? it is too far to take pics of and dissapears in the haze every now and then...it has been there for 3-4 days now. A large navy or coast guard boat comes and goes from that area everynow and then,returning to the Johns Pass area.

That is the exact ship i am looking at thru the bino's, wow, thanks for the info as it was driving me nuts trying to figure out what ship it would be and what it is doing out there. Thanks again and the site you sent me looks like a great site.

Ship

There used to be a casino ship moored out there too......just beyond the 12 mile limit. I used to do a flyby when taking people for rides. On one ride, we could see someone hanging their head over the side.....the seas were heavy that day....lol.

They would shuttle passengers back and forth from John's Pass and St. Pete.
