i am looking to get a GPS unit that is handheld like a hiking one. However i want one that you can type in co-ordinates you want to go to instead of a street name or waypoint. So if you call me on the radio and say i am at this location I can come right to you..

i am trying to keep the cost as low as possible. Any recommendations?

Find a used Garmin eMap. But most older handheld GPS devices support what you want.
