Ingham County will begin paging out Dept.s over the new EDACS system beginning Wed. 5-17 at 1000 hrs (460.60mhz) Pagers were issued to out-county dept's last Thurs. The rest of the system may be up and running by the end of this week.

I've not heard any sort of testing on the police side -- all fire. Is it just fire this week or is it completely coming up?

I heard techs this morning say they would be ready for paging Thursday although the note I got from someone else did mention Mason Fire would be Wed.

Rob, The info was paged out to area FD's this morning on the old system (Stockbridge-Leroy) from Fire Center. Rumor contol has it that the out-county FD's will be 1st on the system. (Guinea pigs?) I can't speak for PD's. Sorry I didn't make myself clear.

This evening I heard the fire tone test on the old system and reminding the various country fire that at 10:00 Wednesday they would be switched to the new paging system. What does this mean for the actually radio traffic for these FD. Will that be switched at that time also?

That's what I'm hearing...

Also in montoring Ch10 conventionally, it seems to be repeating ALL transmissions from FIRE MAIN and not just the paging. That matches what I heard before about units being able to use the paging freq for primary traffic.

Just broadcast by Dispatch @ 1800 05/16/2006: Paging as described starting Wednesday; "new trunked Radio System" on Friday.

Are you all SURE of the EDACS channels? I would think they work on a step algorithm from a control channel in the 800Mhz range and wouldn't re-use the current frequencies....

Thanks

LCN's are not confirmed for all 9 because the other 5 are still in use. I'm not sure what your question about 800MHz means...

So if Meridian PD is completely over there, why can't I hear anything on their main channel? I see activity there based on the code that pops up, but no audio comes out. Should be switch to Narrow yet?

I was listening to Meridian while in wide yesterday although the audio seemed weak. I deleated the system and re-entered it in narrow and now I hear nothing. In addition when scanning the system and putting it on hold it would stop on the cc--now, in narrow, it no longer stops on the cc but does stop on one of any lcn's programmed. If time allows I am going to re-enter the system (system 2) in wide and I will have a system in wide and a system in narrow just for fun. Any input out there??

I'm hearing Meridian PD just fine, the audio for many users is lower than other analog stuff. Also hearing a lot of talk on MER CAR. If you see the talkgroup but don't hear anything - make sure your LCN's are in order.

04-121 active right now with the Meridian fire rigs testing coverage, not sure what TG that would be. Getting some tests on LFD with/without the emergency alert. Getting all the fire pages on FIRE MAIN. That's both home in Delta Twp and at lunch in Okemos just an hour ago...

Just got an announcement on 05-137 to all Meridian units about LEIN being down, did get a few fire pages for Meridian Twp on that talkgroup this afternoon too.

It will NOT work on narrow - it is still EDACS Wide.

Only dropouts I had with my 396 were along I-96 through Eaton Co. Anyone know a good, non-obtrusive, SMA antenna tuned for 400MHz?
