I am able to hear Ingham County RDACS system
Almost at 100% in downtown Jackson with a handheld
Scanner.
I'm curious why that is, not that im complaining.

My guess would be band conditions, I have been hearing alot of distant UHF stuff the last couple days especially in the morning hours.

I know Harris Communications has an office in Jackson, MI and Consumers Energy also uses Harris.
SO I'm willing to be they have a small receive site somewhere in the city.

There were plans to expand the Ingham County TRS down into Jackson County. However, those plans were shelved when the bottom fell out of the economy. So county officials decided to move everything to a Tait simulcast system on VHF-High band that has been loaded with issues. With their neighboring counties looking at migrating to the MPSCS, maybe Jackson County will follow suit?
