I have heard that the new nationwide interoperability channels usually referred to as V-Tac and U-Tac are suppossed to be narrow band. Anyone know this for sure, either way? Also there appears to be different opinions as to wether or not pl is in use.

All of the V-Tac, U-Tac and I-Tac freqs are supposed to use 156.7 Hz. PL if PL s used at all.

While operations on the I-Tac 800 MHz. channels are fairly common, I have never heard any operatons on the U-Tac or V-Tac channels yet.

I know Lake County has gone to the I-Tac when they had problems with their trunked system a year ago on a weekend.

The VHF tac freqs are always narrowband, however they will never go digital or encrypted

Well, they are not SUPPOSED to be...

There have been reports of APCO25 digital being used on the ITAC channels in simplex mode at incident scenes, at least in this area.

I don't think the ITAC repeaters are set up to pass digital audio.
