I picked up a 528 yesterday evening, and overall it's a good scanner for the money. The main problem I see with the scanner is a lack of programing software available at the moment. I know scanlite says it supports the 528, but I do not like their software. Uniden will have ARC out in December, so I'll wait.

I also think that many are comparing this model to the Pro 97. I have a Pro 97, and I feel the 97 is a better scanner, but for the price the 528 is a good backup or beginner scanner. In my area, the 528 is not as sensitive on the VHF high bands, and the audio is not quite as good. I also like the fact that the 528 will survive rebanding.

In my opinion, if you want a cheap backup or beginning scanner, I think this is a good start.

If anyone has some other opinions, I would like to hear your experiences.

thanks

What does this have to do with the 528? Also Uniden is not the maker of the ARC software.

For $99 I don't think you can hardly beat it..

I mean, yeh, it may not Alpha tag, or do CTCSS.. but for a bill, it's actually pretty sweet..

Sorry, I made a mistake, I meant Butel will have the software out in December. Excuse me for making an error.

For $99 it's a good basic trunker. Pluses are, rebandable, and surprize, it's a great vhf air scanner, much better than most Unidens. for those 3 reasons, it's a keeper!
