use this Antenas - Helix - Javascript on-line calculator for the specs. change the center freq to 1550mhz.
2 3/4" slinky cut off 26 1/2 turns
use 1" or 1 1/4 " pvc pipe for boom to hold slinky
I used 3/4" pieces of foam window tape to help hold slinky to boom as well as zip ties(look at pics)
14" pizza pan for dish and some scrap 2x4 and plywood for boom and mount support.
for the bulkhead connector i used this.
SMA female jack chassis panel mount 4 hole solder connector; US stock; fast ship | eBay

you will need to cut a 1/4 turn match piece to solder to the end of the slinky i made mine around 3/8th wide (see pics)

the spacing will be 1 3/4" between the coils on slinky.. this is close to the recommended 44.5mm

I'm using sdrconsole V3 for main program with use of virtual audio cable feeding it to jaero software to decode data..

so i spent alil time installing my 26 turn slinky antenna.... I have not turned it in yet, just pointed it in the general direction of 54w.. it does have a 20db inline amp on it and i plan on putting the orange flightaware dongle on it and do some testing..

ok so i have tested it with 3 different amps... 1. cable tv amp 20db. 2. mini circuits 20db. and the orange dongle from flightaware with built in lna... the orange dongle buy far is the best one... no extra wiring and power.... all you need is a ACTIVE usb ext cord... mine is 80ft.. i went from EbNo 15-25 signal to a 50 (which is the highest) on 600bps, and from a 6-8 signal 12-15 signal on 10500bps... all reading was off 54w https://www.n2yo.com/satellite/?s=25153

Very nice antenna build. I have not made one myself yet, just using cast off military surplus parts to rebuilt Trivec antennas. This may be my next project radio wise though.

Thank you for sharing the pictures.
