As long as the blog listings are available (and some of these are also in our wiki) I think we're good. We really don't need to repeat them over and over again, regardless of the source.

'Nuff said on that topic. Let's move on...Mike

Hi Amol
I checked 5634 again and it had activity, so this may be one of the more active freqs for Indian Ocean. Had weak signals from INO-1 region making it here to the western USA for about 30-60 mins grayline prop around 1514UTC. This is about as far as I can go for DX to my QTH :)

I also heard them give 3476 as secondary freq, so it may be worth watching.

Recording 5634 kHz from my Wellbrook loop: 5634_Mauritius-Grayline-DX-from-California.mp3

Am in Asia so 17961 should be ok I guess
Trouble is, the ground stations don't transmit for our benefit! An aircraft that leaves Perth for Mauritius and onwards won't be listening to anything other than his 'primary' or 'secondary' frequency and he will be told by the ground station what frequency they are using. I see there are stations on Cocos and Reunion so the aircraft may just be handed on from one to the other and be using a lower frequency that won't get to you. Perhaps if you look at the greyline on DX Atlas you may be able to pick a time when propagation will be better to your location. Unfortunately propagation is a black art, sometime intuition works best! or the Aussie "SWAG" system - a "scientific wild-a***d guess"! Early morning is good for me to India about 8MHz but unfortunately early morning is about 0430 local time at the moment.

BMT, I concur that your information is up-to-date and accurate... but presentation is really everything. A long list of frequencies with no spaces, gaps, is very hard to read. :)

The RR wiki has a MWARA site and I'll update it with your latest information.

No, sorry, not my blog. Don't have the time to go in to all that stuff. I'll admit that it ia very good site for lots of info though. Judging by the reception reports he publishes, my guess is that he's in the US somewhere. There's not enough Milcom activity around here to write on the back of a postage stamp!

I love old threads

G'day
I listen to 8867 here in NZ daily (for last year or so) and it is most of the time very busy from Auckland, Brisbane, Nandi and San Francisco radios.
2 days back I've been listening to some rescue traffic after Cyclone Pam hit Vanuatu.

Oh and I just use shortened dipole for 20m in cca 26ft pointing 'Europe long path' sort of speak.

Keep this thread rolling!

I can confirm what others suggest; keep an ear on 3476 and 5634 if you want to hear Johannesburg working traffic over the Indian Ocean.

Happy listening!

Yes, Jim, but where are you and at what time, local and UTC? 5634 doesn't get vary far with both transmitter and receiver in broad daylight.
