We got paged out at 12:16 and cleared the scene at 16:22. We had 2 grass trucks, 1 tanker(ME), and an engine out there. Inola had several grass rigs, 2 tankers, and an engine. Inola requested mutual aid from Chouteau, Pryor, Oak Grove, Rolling Hills, Osage, Verdigris, and I think Claremore was there also. The fire burned almost 1 mile wide at some places, and was right at 2 miles long. There were also numerous ranchers out with spray rigs on trucks, tractors, and atvs.

While I was waiting for more grass rigs to show up to fill I decided to post about the fire and discovered someone already had.

I listened to part of it on the radio at work. That same guy that I've nicknamed "The Ultimate Commander" from Verdigris Fire was on there. I don't know who he is but he takes that NIMS / ICS crap "fo' REAL".

Yeah they do ICS for real at Verdigris. That whole incident could have used a little more of ICS. There were at least 3 chief officers out on grass rigs. The Inola chief was running it from the drivers seat of one. It worked out okay, though it was just kind of hard to get ahold of him sometimes.

I wish Skiatook FD would step it up with Incident Command, half the time if they DO set up a command, it's because the dispatcher working the the radio asked them too. We do have one Captain (Bob N.) here that's good about it though. It floors me too b/c Skiatook FFs always makes fun of Morgans Corner (where I volunteer) b/c we have old trucks, no $$, etc.We do a helluva lot better job than them managing what resources we do have.
