Input frequencies????

When I am programming freqs., I notice there on alot of entries in the DataBase there are 2 freqs. listed. One just says frequency, the other says "input"

Do I have to put both freqs. in to hear everything? Or just put in the one on the left listed as just "frequency"?

What is the "input" freq.?

The Input frequency is teh channel that a field unit (mobile or portable) transmits to call into the repeater.

The frequency listed (output) is the frequency that teh repeater transmits on.
You usually want to listen to the repeater output to hear all the traffic.

You just need to put in the "frequency" The input is the freq going into the repeater.

I hope I don't confuse you, but if you want to determine if a tranmitting radio is close to you, you can listen on the input frequency, since radios are low powered. I like to listen to see if a police unit is close to me by listening to the input freq.

This is just a little tip. For normal listening, just tune in the output freq!
