I just want to listen to Fire, Police and EMS. Can I just input them and not hear the meter readers or bus drivers?? Is this true with ALL mobile/desktop scanners?

There are 2 ways to do this. You can lock out each talk group that you see(that you don't want) by hitting lockout during a transmission. or, the better way is to input only the talk groups you want, and then set the scanner to "closed" (RS), or ID Scan (Uniden). In the "open" or ID Search mode, you will hear every talk group. Doing this will allow you to enter the ones you want more easily(if you don't have software, which is really the easy way). ON the Uniden, you hit "transfer" to add a TGID to the list of one you want. Not sure what it is for RS. Yes, the above is true with all trunking scanners.

Just set up all your talk groups, and set your radio for "ID SCAN", not "ID SEARCH" and it will only pick up the talk
groups you want to hear.

So as to not sound stupid-This will work even with a Pro-2037 or uniden BC350C and others???

Neither the 2037 nor the 350C are trunkers.

The concept works on all trunking scanners, but the way they implement it is different on RS (and I think GRE does this too). The rough equivalent of ID SCAN in GRE protocol is 'closed mode' and ID SEARCH is 'open mode' 73 Mike

I saw that. I couldn't find 2036 and internet was no help.

Have no idea what your talking about the Pro-2036 isn't there it doesn't trunk track. The list on the Wiki shows which scanners will.
