On Thursday, at around 10:00, an communications inter-op drill took place at the Strafford Train Station in Tredyffrin, Chester County. Agencies involved were the Chester County and Delaware County dispatch centers mobile units, Radnor Fire Co, Berwyn Fire Co, and Tredyffrin PD, among others. The drill similated a train derailment and explosion on the Amtrak/SEPTA rail line. The drill took place to test a new device known as "Gateway" which was designed to link the various communication systems together during a major incident. Chester County's LTR Multi-Net, Delaware County's Motorola conventional, and Montgomery County's Motorola TRS systems were linked together with this device.

During the drill, I did hear a couple of Tredyffrin officers (or county talking to the officers) but didn't hear both sides on I/O 4. It was interesting in that with Tredyffrin PD, the last digit of their unit number is the shift assignment (0=day, 1=evening, 2=overnight), but the officers particpating in the drill had 43P93, 43P43, etc.
