If the local PD's aren't on MPSCS, many MSP units have the capability to use the local county, township, etc. freqs. Also, all MSP radios have the capability to use 866.0125, .5125, 867.0125, .5125, 868.0125 in analog mode, along with the associated freq that are 45Mhz below these.

usually dispatch could patch the channel with a lower frequency. For example when Lapeer Co did a mock disaster in the summer, Life flight came in and central dispatch took one of our fireground channels (in the 800mhz)and patched it to the chopper's radio freq in the 155's and the FD could talk to the chopper.

The Metro North and South MSP units have VHF high-band radios in their vehicles, and they are equipped to talk to area departments on 155.370 MHz., which is known as the "Intercity/Point-to-Point" frequency. While other agencies are prohibited from using this channel in their mobile radios, the local MSP cars have used it a lot in the past to talk with area departments.

That's interesting Ron. I never knew what that channel was for exactly. The only thing I ever heard on it was a BOL about a vehicle involved in a bank robbery on the west side of the state that was being sent around to different departments. Other than that, I've never heard anything else on that channel.

Its mostly used for a base-to-base channel for police agencies across many states. It's very common to hear 155.370 being used to relay information concerning BOLs, pursuits, and Severe Weather, from county-to-county, or dept.-to-dept. Likewise, Genesee Central Dispatch uses it to talk with neighboring counties. However, this will probably diminish once the new radio system goes in place.

Any word when Genesee County will throw the switch on the new 800 MHz., system?

No official word that I've heard or seen. Though I can say that cable is currently being run and radios will soon be installed at some of the county agencies.
No activity yet at the tower site that's about 5 miles from my house. No dirt, no access road, no nothing. So it seems like it still might be a little while off.

It's interesting to see the implementation plan they have for the system. It's going in step-by-step and will be expanded each year to include more agencies. Don't know if that's true in other places or not. If I had a copy of the plan, I'd post it here. Unfortunately I don't have one to share. (Maybe I can "borrow" a copy at some point.)

I have also heard local warrant checks between counties around here. Particularly between the Michigan and Indiana counties. Actually thats about all I have heard on it so far. But you never know when something is going to happen so I leave it in the scanner.

I have always loved to listen to 155.370 MHz., when Severe Weather is coming up from the southwest. Also, 155.025 and 155.475 MHz., are very popular intersystem frequencies in Indiana, with the latter being the Indiana Law Enforcement Emergency Network (ILEEN), which is a great channel to monitor for any action.

Genesee County 911:

I just got yesterday's (Sunday's) paper read and oddly enough, there was another article about the 911 system and the cost to townships/cities/etc.

The article says that motorola is contracted to have radio equipment completely installed and operational by next year... hmmm...

Heard a good patch today.
Kerry was at Macomb Community College South Campus and the Campus Police had the security on campus and Warren had the surounding area. The College uses 453.825 and Warren has a 800 Mhz trunked system. They patched Warren Special Event (TG 272) to 453.825. There was a time delay between them, so if you had 2 scanners with one picking up Macomb College and the other Warren, you had to kill one to hear.
