Interesting Charts Showing Radio Range Comparisons

This is a link to some interesting pictures of charts that show range comparisons of different radio types compared to amateur radio. I thought it was interesting. I do not agree with everything it says. What do you guys think of these? Is this what they teach new hams these days or what? I have never seen these before.

Without an explanation of how this information was arrived at, it's meaningless. Looks neat, but still meaningless.

Anytime you see such a simplified interpretation of radio propagation with no attempt made to reconcile the innumerable variables involved in such comparisons, it's a pretty safe bet that the details are wrong.

I think the only thing I would accept with these charts is the generalities made implying that higher power will talk further. But even that's not always so simple.
