While searching 800mhz tonight, I came across a P25 control channel that is strong in Lexington. Here's where it gets very interesting: the WACN is BEE00 and the SysID is 1D9, the exact same as the Charleston County P25 system. The NAC is N1D0. The frequency I am monitoring is 866.475 and it broadcasts a site number of 105. 866.8625 is reported as an alternate CC by Pro96Comm. Both of those frequencies are licensed to the SC Budget and Control Board (WPUR551) with a transmission site in Columbia.
What could this mean? Is this the future of Palmetto 800 being tested? Maybe the rumors that the Charleston County system is the first part of the new Palmetto 800 are true.
So far I haven't monitored any voice data or affiliations and Pro96Comm does not show any neighboring sites.
