Last Saturday, May 3rd, there was a drill in the Irish Hills Natural Reserve across Prefumo Canyon from our home. We saw a very puzzled mountain biker go by and watch the fire crew spray water on green grass. They humped those hoses up and down the hill at least 3 times, about a 300' elevation change.
It had to be over 1,000' of hose.
Interestingly, all of the engines and battalion chief cars were from Santa Barbara County (SBC), Santa Barbara City (STB), and Montecito (MTO), except for one batt mobile from SLO City.
Then, after we saw a Sky Crane sucking water out of Laguna Lake...
and an air attack plane fly over, they packed up and left, probably for live drill on the brush fire near Ontario Road and 101.
