I came across a copy of the 1951 APCO Communications Directory for Illinois. It is an amazing resource into the state of communications for police departments 70 years ago.

Mmmm, that's some tasty, tasty low band goodness right there.

And a few 'top of the AM broadcast band' to boot.

That's a fantastic resource Rich! Previously the oldest info I had was the Scanner Master Illinois Communications Guide which I still refer back to ocassionally for historical purposes.

That is an interesting read. I see a lot of call signs that are still used today, albeit on different bands.
