I stumbled upon this document this evening that sheds some light on the recommendations from UCA on the statewide radio system. It provides a lot of really interesting history and provides an interesting snapshot of the state of public safety radio comms in Utah. Included are also details about the new P25 system being installed by L3Harris which started July 2019 and is anticipated to be completed within 5 years.

A page on the UCA site mentions, "The Utah Communications Authority is anticipating that we can begin migrating users to the new P25 radio system in early 2023."

Does anyone know what the status of the new P25 system is, and whether it is on schedule? Do we know if it is planned to sit in the same 800 MHz band, or a different frequency range? I do really hope that we'll be able to listen to it!

It's posted in another thread but yes they are eventually switching to a p25 system and Harris is been chosen to head the upgrade, however we don't know if it's going to be phase 1 or 2, also it may be til 2023 before it fully happens, maybe sooner maybe later, we don't know.. Some of the UCA licenses have been modified for p25 use

It's like looking back in time a bit technology wise, but Quantars are like the tanks of the radio world. Thank you for sharing. Interesting info on the Utah statewide comms network.
