I hung out in downtown Glendale at Murphy Park for a short while around noon, scanning and searching around with my GRE PSR-500. I noticed that there is a lot of widespread interference throughout the 700 range. (I used the analyze function, as well as the Signal Stalker and search features of the scanner.)
I'm going to try to get out to the Glitter & Glow special event there tomorrow night. But between the interference, and the noise level of the crowds and entertainment there, I don't expect to be able to hear much, public safety wise, on my scanner.
Yes, I do have an earpiece. I used it last year, but without much luck. I think noise canceling headphones would almost be necessary to block out the noise. But that still leaves the RFI issue.
Has anyone else dealt with this issue in the downtown area as well?
