I will give that a try. Thanks for the info and I will report back once I have tested it.

You need to test at both HF and UHF, without test equipment you may find it difficult to measure.

The radio has one master tuning adjustment in the service menu, it doesn't seem possible to get the frequency correct for both the 100k to 76MHz and 76MHz to 1300 MHz ranges.

Best way to test UHF without equipment and 70cm beacons nearby is to test on an analogue FM signal with 0.1kHz steps and 6kHz filter like this:-

This test needs to be done when the radio is cold and when its hot (on for at least 1 hour).

1. Find a signal in the UHF Band 400MHz upwards
2. Put the DV10 into VFO mode A, B or Z doesn't matter which one.
3. Open the squelch, NSQ or LSQ to 000
4. Set the Mode to FM
5. Set the IFBW to 6kHz
6. Set the step to 0.1kHz

Tune the radio up and down slowly until you find the 2 points where the noise increases significantly.

As an example, if you listen to a signal on 450.000MHz the noise should significanly increase above 450.00310 and below 449.99690, ie 3.1kHz either side. Any different offset than +/- 3.1kHz is the frequency error, repeat the test at switch on and after warming up for an hour, any difference is the drift.

With the radio on a cold start. I had it in the refrigerator for a while. I just had the radio on 5.000 Mhz on WWV AM at 3.8 and the steps set at .50 K. I was able to pick up WWV using the supplied antenna at 4.998 Mhz and tune through WWV through 5.002 Mhz until the signal was gone. after 45 minutes the only problem was signal fade from WWV. Now I dont know if this was a proper test, but I am happy with it. I will see if I can find someone at my work ( a Radio tec) to conduct a test using the proper equipment.

Use CW or USB/LSB mode on any FM signal in UHF band that are transmitting for a suitable long time, even a data channel are ok, and if the beat tone heard are slowly changing in frequency it means that the oscillator are drifting. Set the stepsize to 100Hz and adjust to get a suitable beat tone to listen to.

Well, in 24 hours odd we will know where things are heading with the latest updates - I truly hope AOR pull through on all bugs and issues raised by users so far.

What were your testing results?

Ok, I ran the radio for 1 hour using the prescribed setting and... No change to the signal. I found a DMR signal at 454.420 Mhz. I cold started my DV10 tuned it to 454.420. I set the tuning step to 1K on CW Mode. The signal strength, tone and pitch of the data channel did not change for the entire hour.

I don't know what to say. maybe I need to have it tested with the proper equipment? I'm not seeing the shift that has been video'ed on YouTube The only gripe I have with this radio is it is a little deaf on the UHF military aviation band.

Seems the new firmware(1808D) is only available for those who attend HamFair2018, How nice is that?
