I've hit the ISS crossband repeater more than once since I got a yagi and have had another station on the ground acknowledge me.

In order to qualify for a QSL card, do they (Those on-board the ISS) have to acknowledge me? A station on ground? or just simply hearing yourself give your callsign while listening on the downlink?

Thanks!

I think the only way to get the ISS QSL card is by working a ISS station member, or via packet APRS from the ISS APRS radio. Working a station from someone via working thru the cross band repeater I do not think it would count as ISS qso. I may be wrong.

No QSL from ISS Astronauts unless you make contact with them.

Having a QSO with another amateur via ISS, you could exchange cards with that operator.

You can get an ISS QSL card for a reception report. I have gotten cards for hearing my own APRS packets retransmitted by the ISS digipeater, for receiving SSTV transmissions, and for hearing the ISS side of scheduled voice contacts. I suppose a reception report for the cross-band repeater could be sent in for a card. Not the same as a card for a two-way contact with an ISS crewmember (I have a bunch of those), but still fun to get QSL cards for hearing the ISS.

Thank you, my mistake. I was thinking QSO and even typed QSL in error as well.

No worries!

ARISS issues QSLs for lots of reasons, besides the contacts with crewmembers. Have to send them an SASE or SAE and something to cover postage, in order to get the card from them.
