So you have optimized your connection already? Just like to help. What I found out when I had diap-up was that the newer modems work better. I have an old Dell and a new Dell laptop, the laptop had better dial-up speeds.
My FIOS yesterday was doing 35MB up and 15MB down, which compared to my old DSL connection with a 329W model is lightning fast, as the advertising people like to say. The new MI424WR modem probably helps a lot, too. The new new modem set itself up on Echolink by my just hitting the desktop icon, not like the old days where one went nuts trying to get the EL connection done right.
My FIOS in DC this morning is doing 30Mb up and 15MB down. The up sometimes rises to 35, but who cares? Fast enough for me. Verizon promised 25/25 so I guess if the two add up to almost 50MB they're doing the job they promised.
