As an addition to NeFire242's post, the Sandhills Region is "Region 26". Region 26 already has a joint dispatch center located in Taylor, NE that includes a majority of the counties.

What is scary 10 counties did not apply to get any grant money. That is your local government work.

I would venture to say this is two-fold.

1. Albeit they didn't take the money so they are going to have to pay for this equipment somehow, so more than likely tax revenues.

2. Without taking DHS funds or other funding, no one can "force" them into a situation they don't think would work for them, or feel pressured into buying certain brands or types of equipment.

Perhaps they feel that with the equipment they have now would work for them and their mutual aid needs in the future. It's tough to tell without some real input and feedback on their parts.
