I've been up in the Clay County area and it's like a dead zone for ISICS traffic up here. Is there a missing tower from the DB or is it just that quiet?

All I'm aware of in your area are the Sanborn, Estherville and Storm Lake towers. When I'm in Spencer, I find the Sanborn tower to be the strongest. But - depending on where you are in the county - your mileage will vary. Also, there are no local agencies really using the system up there, except for occasional mutual aid-type traffic. It's mostly highway patrol. Pretty much just that quiet.

It'll be interesting to see what happens as Dickinson County (just north of Clay) will be joining the ISICS and I don't believe there are any current towers in the county

Any thoughts as to the identity of TGID 1? It pops up very occasionally on the Starcomm towers. Traffic is always super short. Yesterday I caught what I assumed to be a dispatcher contacting a Des Moines International firefighter.

From what I've been told, you don't use TGID #1. It's the default TGID in a radio when you add a new TG in the programming...so if there was traffic on it, it was probably a improperly programmed radio.

I been hearing comms on TG4300. This is listed in the database as ArNG Davenport. But I have been hearing the units referring it to as Statewide.

It's official. Lyon County will be switching SO traffic to ISICS. The sheriff says the new dispatch console is already in, but they're waiting on vehicular repeaters to be available before they put ISICS radios in their patrol cars.

Will the county be adding a couple of new towers, or do they think the one in Rock Rapids will be enough?

Changes have been applied to the DB.

I have noticed they have been flying this week.

Tim
Davenport is Shop 4, and they update fligh status with Shop 4 via ISICS. It can vary, but it is quite busy at times depending on what flights are out there. I have heard flights well into Minnesota and IL update status on ISICS from time to time.

Especially interesting to note, when they have fly-by's for various events, you will hear them set it up on ISICS TG 4300. So I keep 4300 on priority 3.

Also note, ISICS talkgroups are not a replacement for communications in drills inside such places as the Crypt MOA. Those communications are still on Uniform (UHF). Reason being they must to keep in contact with ATC to activate and clear those MOAs.

Actually Davenport is Shop 3 as posted on the sign at the Airport

Does anybody monitor the Sanborn tower regularly? For some reason, my remote scanner at Sheldon hasn't been picking it up lately. When I punch it in, in direct frequency mode, it does show some signal, but it's quite low compared to what it has been. Nothing else seems to have changed...

I noted that Clinton PD now has two fully encrypted TG's, 23507 and 23506. RID's were consistent with normal PD radios. Also, I noted that a fire department (not sure if it was county or City) was using 23515 for drills.

Just FYI.
