Iqaluit police freq. help

I am in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada on business and I have a BCD396XT UNIDEN scanner. I forgot my USB-1 cable. I am fairly new to trunk scanning but starting to get the hang of it slowly. Is there any way to figure out what the police are using or how to get a control channel. I know one of the channels is 151.16 because they use it in the communities. When I listen to it, sometimes it comes on with a couple of data sounds and squeaky voices for a sec, then noise. When searching under P25 NAC Search it shows "NAC 293" and when I search under CTCSS/DCS Search it shows "C67.0".

Any ideas?

Welcome to RadioReference.

From the sounds of it (data sounds, split second squeaky voices), it sounds like an encrypted P25 signal on 151.160. The NAC 293 is a generic code provided by the radio manufacturer. The radio shop can reset if they wish. There may be another user on the analog side with the same frequency using 67.0 CTCSS with encryption or voice inversion.

Try a TAFL search

Hi;

Your best bet might be to do a search of Industry Canadas TAFL.
Go to Search Canada's TAFL , select northern territories for area and search for Iqaluit. RCMP is not listed on this but you should be able to find frequencies for fire, ambulance, bylaw, and airport operations. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Here is a list I compiled for myself from TAFL last time I was up there 2 years ago unfortunately I was not up there long enough to confirm more of them however it sounded to me like bylaw was using NXDN or TRBO, Taxi is confirmed, Air is confirmed and 153.7700 was in use by the fire department at that time.

You can also add 296.2 with 122.2, plus 123.275 & 126.7 (broadcast only on the second one) from Arctic Radio (remote out of North Bay ON), 122.925 for apron advisory, 134.550 Montreal Centre (ATC remote site) and 126.9 from Gander Radio, plus the NAT-D family of HF aero frequencies 2971 - 4675 - 8891 -11279 kHz.
