West Virginia is partnering with Aviat Networks to bring high-speed Internet service to undeserved areas of the state.
Aviat said Tuesday in a news release that the state's existing microwave public safety network will be expanded to provide broadband access. The network is expected to be connected to public safety agencies, public libraries, schools, government offices and other facilities across the state.

Local Internet service providers also will be able to connect to the network.

The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2012.

Santa Clara, Calif.-based Aviat sells products and services for wireless networks.
