Could anything of interest be picked up on a Pro-95. Dad, 85, has panoramic view of S.D. and would love to listen to air traffic. Is this at all possible with a Pro-95? We're both totally new to this. Thank you for any help you can provide. Lisa

You can definitely use it for air traffic. You can also use it for all the fire depts. as well as San Diego PD and CHP San Diego. All other PD and CHP El Cajon traffic is digital.

Thank you so much!

Thank you, Jeff, for responding to my question. Dad lives in E.S.D. and is 86 and limited in what activities he can do anymore. He was so excited about the scanner since he sits on his front porch with his dog and watches the planes come in from the east all the way to the airport. He is also interested in fire because he brother and nephew are retired SD fire dept.

Now the problem is this: he has been messing with this thing ALL day long and we have what we believe are the air traffic frequencies, but with NO scanning experience whatsoever, we are unable to pick up anything. The manual is not written for those of us who know NOTHING. Do you have any suggestions so we can get Dad up and listening?

I really appreciate you taking the time to respond and for your great info. Very best regards, Lisa

Lisa,

If you are interested in listening to aircraft, do the following:

Turn the scanner on.

Press the "search" button [bottom row-second from the left]

Keep pressing it until the "AIRCRAFT" name comes on the lower part of the screen.

You may have to turn the "SQUELCH" knob some to get the scanner to "break squelch" or to just eliminate the "hisssssssssssssssss" that you hear while scanning.

If the scanner gets "stuck" on one frequency, just push the arrow key to move it along.

Above the search are two buttons that look like ARROWS---pointing up and down.

Press the up arrow and the scanner will scan pre programmed aircraft frequencies from 108MHz to 136 MHz.

Press the lower button and the scanner will go from 136 to 108.

Hope this helps!

Alain
