I am just wondering if anybody here runs two scanners on the same ARMER site at the same time? I was thinking that you could have one trunk scanning all of the known talkgroups and the other one trunk searching for the unknowns as they pop up.

Yes, I run a second with ProCom96 logging data from the control channel. I'm sure there are others that do as well.

This summer i have been running 5 with voice 7 with trunker data plus 3 yaesu 8800's with trunker data from the Detroit Lakes area. 12 beams and 3 J poles. I have been doing some fun stuff at night by setting up some of the radios in the roam mode with a full load of control channels. Lots of interesting data in the morning !

There is a mini din data jack in the back of the radio with a 9600 baud data output. You can choose which side of the radio to output the data and still use the other side for normal ops. The diagram for the jack is in the 8800 manual. Keyboard cables usually have the proper wires present...mouse cables are usually missing one of the wires you need.

Its actually a great way to put an older scanner back to use. There are directions for tapping many radios in the wiki. I haven't done it but one of these days I'll get around to tapping my old radio shack units...

Dont be too disappointed with the results unless you are close to a site...even on the 8800's with nfm it isnt the greatest...food 4 thought.

What's your decoder of choice for packet/tapped radios? Playing with Unitrunker, but not wrapping my head around how to simply view the logs of affiliations/grants/denies.
