Not really sure what you're referring to. Cobb Fire is no longer on the old Type II system so there signal on that system is non-existent - Nada!! If you're referring to the P25 system, depending on where you are, if you're inside a building, elevation of your antenna - lots of variables, the reception of the control channel or even the voice channel(s) may come in and go out on occasion. Not sure you've provided enough info to determine a problem. I would also say that reception of the system doesn't sound like a problem typically caused by the dispatcher. :)

You may want to ensure you don't have close call or priority or WX in the on position. I'm listening to the COBB DTRS and haven't heard a single miss.

our radios work just fine @KH

must be your location William. no problems here at the hospital, our radios are working fine (other than the usual craptacular audio we're used to). No one has had any problems all day according to my co-workers. Listening to CCFD on my XTS2500 in scan and it's fine. Scanners aren't perfect, you may have some local interference.

as far as Cobb fire coming out on the old 0920, I can confirm for the past few days the old dispatch talkgroup has been multi-selected, you can in fact, hear the dispatch side of all calls, no audio from the DTRS is coming through the old analog one, but it has been up as has the old Marietta fire simulcast on 154.25 (which RadioReference incorrectly has this listed as being licensed to Cobb county, according to the FCC it is the city of Marietta, and transmits from Fort Hill which is a CoM property, but what do we know right?)

The 154.25 is a cross band repeater connected to the old 800 analog TRS, so when CCFD mult-selects or patches the DTRS in, it becomes active.

I know they patch/multi-select when running mutual aid calls with Cherokee and Douglas who don't have digital 800 radios in their MCV's (yet) and for some reason, last I was in the 900 unit- no VHF radios at all (why not?).

Ccfd 900

Hearing that the Cobb Fire Command Unit ("900") doesn't have a VHF radio is surprising. Cobb County is bordered by 4 counties that primarily use VHF - Cherokee, Bartow, Paulding and Douglas. Unless they use patch operations, I can't imagine why they at least don't have VHF radio capability. I know that Austell Fire, for example, has two radios in their fire apparatus - a Cobb DTRS radio and a Kenwood (I believe) VHF LTR trunking radio for those frequent occasions when they respond mutual aid into Douglas County.

Well, next time you are on 900 look more closely. There is VHF capability, and it is tied to the ACU-1000.

Several months ago, I heard E25 Cobb and E14 Cherokee both on 154.2200 - it was a patch that one of them had put up.

The 900 comms indeed has VHF. See attached photo of the ACU-1000 ... VHF is channel 2.
