That is why it is good to be aware of local/state scanner laws.

Let me see if I'm reading this correctly. You were a ham until you 'got busted' with a scanner in your car? If you were a ham, you should be exempt from anti-scanner laws. Even so, how does 'getting busted' nullify your ham license?

Where do you live? (state and city)

Joe, look at his posts to the various forums. I won't get into the nitty-gritty, but he seems to be a bit, how shall we say it, confrontational?

BTW, he apparently lives in Michigan.

I think some of his keys on his keyboard may be broken also. I was having trouble reading some of his post especially this one. I think I will now zip it up now. Seems like he is looking for confrontation.

Yea - I didn't see his posts in the other threads until after I read this one. It definitely looks like he is the "twisting the crooked stick in the hornet's nest" type. I especially like the part that he is going to 'sick' the police on anyone with a scanner. I can't wait to see all the people who successfully sue and win when they are proven to be in the right. Then, well, let's just say the true troublemaker will be known to the local PD. I just hope MI is like NY, and they can't destroy your scanner while you fight them to get it back. But, maybe they will actually consider the law before they act.

As I'm sure everyone else knows by now, hams (tech & higher) ARE exempt from that law according to the MI law quoted in another thread. Maybe he was only a Novice and didn't qualify. Whatever the reason, it sounds like he got burned, and wants to make sure everyone else burns, too.

In any event, getting a MI State scanner permit is as easy as filling out and sending in a form. You can even print the form from the 'net...

Huh? Anyone else have as much trouble understanding this as me?

From what I did make of it, it looks like he's trying to start something about busting people with mobile scanners.

I found one of his posts interesting. On 11/6/04 Greg made this statement...
Been Pulled over So Many Times in the State of Michigan walked Away with no tickets or warning,They Can't do Much to you Anymore in Michigan
The Scanner Law is Out Dated and Most Judges will not do anything....

Looks like his luck ran out.

Yeah, just a bit of a contradiction, eh? I started to quote from his various posts when I commented earlier, then I decided to just let his posts speak for themselves. As an old journalism professor taught me, you don't say a man is mean, you tell how he kicks his dog.

Probably time to move this discussion to the Tavern, where it should have started in the first place. Transfer this topic to the Tavern, Lindsay?

Mark

Oops, just saw in another topic that Lindsay has banned Greg, so that's the end of that!
