I've heard a few people say that Jenks is going to a Motorola system to connect with the state instead of EDACS. Does anyone know what's going on? If this happens then Glenpool is screwed :?

Why would Jenks have a need to connect with the State? I don't know what's going on. I don't know how Glenpool would be screwed either.

I think that Glenpool has been waiting for Jenks to go EDACS so they could tag along on an antenna to cover their dead spots.

If Jenks go with Motorola they can just hook up with the Tulsa System and just buy the radios. If they go with EDACS they have to put up antenna and system bc lord knows they can't rely on the BA tower from there.

If jenks goes with motorola they could pick up the repeaters in
Tulsa, Okmulgee and Bristow giving them a lot more area. That would be a major benefit over the limited Edacs system. The only problem I see is that The Tulsa system is getting pretty full. If you figure police/fire you are probalby looking at a minimum of 5 talk groups more if they add their campus police, coty works and so forth.

I think that Owasso has their own system and will just put in a permanent patch to the state system like Edmond, Shawnee, ex.............

All I know is that they are only broadcasting with like 30 Watts of power, and I cant pick them up very good on my scanner.

I talked with a contact within Jenks and they are looking at going with Motorola instead of EDACS. They said they want to have access to the state system and have future plans of having terminals in the cars.

With the EDACS system, can't they still put terminals inside the cars?

If they do go with Motorola it will mean Glenpool will have to shell out some major bucks that they claim they don't have right now.

Cornfusaled by all this!?!?!?

Yes they can still put terminals in their cars. Broken Arrow I believe uses the same system in their cars as TPD. At least thats what I have heard.

Broken Arrow uses the Tulsa system for their MDT for now. I know the city is experimetning with a new system. The Cities current server is extrmely slow, and they are looking for an upgrade. Since Ba couldnt uses Tpd system are you sure Edacc is computer compatibile?? Of course I have since Nextells law enforcement system and was pretty inpressed. Spped is about 96k.
