I just obtained a new $700.00 scanner and my what a surprise to discover that its to be all but useless over the next year or two, and I haven't seen or heard boo around these forums as to just how swiftly they are blocking the public from monitoring LE. The FBI is behind this, claiming privacy concerns, but last I checked, if you get stopped by the cops, let alone charged with any violations or crimes, its public domain, and every small community across the nation publishes all of the interactions between LE and the public at least monthly! They have no right to hide from us, I do not give a rats ass about privacy or criminals, if you intend to allow media special access then you have created a privilege, and annihilated a right!

Tell me this is being fought in the federal courts?

It can't be fought against. Federal & State legislation require the Personal Identify Information (PII) can't be broadcast over the radio. It has to do with the privacy rights of the citizen.

There are plenty of threads on this subject, your answer is there is no right to monitor public safety comms. For more info read those threads.
