LC is mostly digital with a LOT of encryption used. Look at the info in the db under the Palmetto 800 TRS. It is still recommended very much to get a digiscanner so you can hear say Columbia's ops on the system, as well as a lot of the counties statewide.... There is a LOT of digital on the Palmetto 800. Almost all the new users joining are in digital mode.

Lexington Co. SD uses full-time digital encryption on pretty much all of their channels. You won't be able to listen to them even with a digital scanner. They do have two analog talkgroups used to communicate with other agencies, but they are rarely used.

EMS, FD, municipal PDs, and other county services are analog. There are also a few municipal police departments with digital talk-around channels.

Agreed, most of the LCSD tg's are in fact digital and encripted, the rest of the county operations are not. Again most new users are coming on with digital tg's and equipment, especially the law enforcement agencies.

Though the primary users of encryption on the Palmetto 800 are still the LCSO, SLED, a few SCHP TG's,... and the Feds...
