Hello all,
I have an old but great AOR AR-3000A receiver, in FM Mode it has two option Narrow and Wide, but Narrow is too narrow and Wide is too wide. Is there any modification or change in some sort of trimmer or what ever that can I change to reduce the 200Khz of IF bandwidth of the Wide FM to around 50KHz or to wide of the narrow FM to 30KHz, any thing is OK, the major problem is for WX Sats reception, in Wide-FM it is OK until any orbcomm comes close.
Any info or comments will be appreciated.
Thanks and 73

Your wish is my command.........
Long time ago used to be a place in Southern California that sold modified Uniden scanners for this. Either you need the decoder that plugs into the 10.7 if out or you need to switch filters. AOR UK came up with the AR3000Plus mods package and it had a mod in it for the WEFAX. Since AORUK is no more the Plus sheet is floating around.

Here is one location. Save PDF and print it out it is valuable for AR3000 owners....I still have 1 AR3000 and 2 AR3000As

You most likely will need a perf board if you are not into etching. And IF filters are starting to get harder to find. Surface mount soldering skills are required for this mod as also carefull disassembly of the radio. For out of the box solution get a AR5000 as it has 30khz in it.

Thanks...

Thank you David:
The link was very usefull I had downloaded the file and will try to locate the filters and parts requiered. Also this file help me to discover that my AOR have already the 10.7 MHz IF out modification done. If I understand correctly the info it seems that the radio can be ordered with several modifications included or not. May be the radio's previous owner included the 10.7 modification. If I'm right I guess I can use this IF out with a SDR hardware and software to have a 5 MHz wide SDR using as center frequency the one is displayed in the equipment? Am I right??? If this is correctly I guess doing the WEFAX modification will not be requiered, just using a SDR and the right software? May this option allow me to recieve digital data as LRPT or LRIT???
Thanks again and best regards.
