I went back to a tram antenna, since that is what I was using prior to losing State Police and other freq. Also, I purchased a Whistler TRx 2 radio.
I had had one before and liked it. So I started picking up some of the things I hadn't like amateur radio, airports. But no state police. Last night I was listening and what pops on, State Police ISPERN. Loud and clear. I was very happy about that. But I have yet to hear State Police dispatch or anything from the field. So not sure if I should investigate the setting in ISPERN and see if it matches the others. And not sure if my diamond antenna was bad. So still have some investigating to do. And the other thought , maybe State Police just aren't transmitting like I think they should be. What I love about this hobby.
You heard an ISPERN dispatch you reported? Probably came across the site within your range is why, and if you held that site, a good possibility you'd hear Troop 10. Instead of climbing up, replacing antennas, checking coax, it's in your programming as you expect. When you download the database, you bring ALL the sites over to your scanner and it's scan's the sites statewide many of them aren't in range and the scanner scans and you miss transmissions.. Optimally, by self-programming and creating a Favorite List dedicated to the talk groups you want to hear, and closest site on the SDS200, your problem would be resolved. First...what county are you in?

Franklin County, I have my antenna on a pole, I just bring down, I don't have to climb. I've never self programmed a talk group, guess it would be as a conventional, just putting in the right stuff is the key.

This is probably the only site you need programmed:

The point about the antenna was it's probably not the problem, the programming is. You can program in the site, Troop 10 talk groups, put it in ID Scan, and that's all you'll hear for the time being. Hopefully you can get your programming resolved.
