Is something going on with the OC radios again?

So today I heard a couple of unusual transmissions over priority:

First was an assignment where they gave it to Unit XXX and "any other available town patrol"

Second was a case where a dispatcher called for an "available town patrol" over priority, but didn't give out a call.

It is like listening to polling a few years ago.

Since there are SEVEN counties here in NYS that start with the letter O, perhaps you'd be so good as to specify which "OC" you are asking about.

He's asking about Orange County. I can't stand when people use such generalized acronyms or abbreviations like that also, its obnoxious. FDNY is one thing, "OC" is another. Then again, at least it wasn't "NYFD" which I see a lot and really irks me.

It's the automatic presumption that Orange County is the only "OC" in the state and we should all know it that bothers me the most. So I don't mind pointing out that "the emperor isn't wearing any clothes" when ever I can.

I agree. Not to beat up on sc8, but unless it's so widely known like NYPD, FDNY, LAPD, etc., there's no reason for it. Especially in the title of a thread without at least spelling it out in the first post. I've taken to just ignoring people who do it, rather than waste my time asking them to please explain which of the 500 "SPD" they're talking about.

Back to the poster's original post. Stupid question, but are you listening with a scanner with PL?

We've had some rather wild tropospheric ducting (DX) in the northeast the last four-five days.
Maybe you were hearing another department?
