Hi i am coming to the east coast first New York City then Boston for a vacation to see friends. Here in the San Diego area I listen to the news Media in the 450 MHZ range and it is almost gone here. The reporters here now are on their cell phones but I still hear the ENG vans when something big happens so it is still good to monitor the 450 MHZ channels, Also 123.025 is good to listen too as the news Helicopters talk to each other
over a crime scene do you hear much on 123.025 and the 450 MHZ range in the city of Boston

Thank you

Helicopters and ENG vans for the most part. There isn't very much, if any, "spot news" coverage going on these days. The TV stations are more interested in "live coverage", even if the live coverage takes place an hour or more after the actual incident. They apparently feel it's vital to have a pretty face standing in front of a building that was on fire an hour ago than to have either their own or free lancer video or stills of the actual fire. For that, they depend on people sending in grainy and shaky cell phone video.

OTOH, there are still a couple of active fire buff groups, Media and Fire Buff - Scan New England Wiki
