Hello, I found a WS 1098 on sale for $150. I already have a SDS 200 and the pro-106. This seems like a great price for this unit to add it to my collection, but I am curious what the thoughts are here. I couldn’t find any for sale on eBay at all for a reference point. Thanks.

I have one and like it, it is a good base scanner as long as you don't need NXDN and you aren't in a simulcast area.

Thanks for the input. I have the SDS 200 for simulcast and NXDN. Though I don’t love the sds 200 NXDN but that’s a conversation for another time lol. This would probably be used mostly for P25 phase 1 and analog and maybe a few dmr channels. I just couldn’t find any others online for a price reference point for what they are doing for now days

I have five WS1098...yes...five of them. I am very pleased with mine. Like previously mentioned, no Simulcast or NXDN. I've found that it is best to program the SD card in the computer, not in the scanner with a USB cable. For some, reason I get errors when the card(s) are in the scanner(s). Other than that, it is a good performing scanner and I am pleased with mine. $125 sounds too good to be true, so be careful. Why is it being sold for that amount? I paid between $400-$500 for my previously used ones. Good luck.

That price sounds iffy. I have not seen one under $300 on E-Bay yet

Thank you for the reply. The guy posted it on Facebook marketplace said he doesn’t know a lot about it, but did post a video of it working. I think my mind has been made up to snag it up. Also, thank you for the information about programming!

Not that it makes a difference but I would go with a bcd996p2 used or new. With whistler being iffy, unless you are partial to them and have another source for repair, I would stick with uniden. Too many unknowns for me.
