Is there an update for 996???

I went to Uniden site. I logged in. Went to downloads for 996 and only saw previous updates.

With all the activity on V3, I thought it would apply to the 996.

If UPman or others can advise, please.

Update applies to the 996 also... Look in your "All My Scanners" link on the website more carefully after you login.

Youll have to click "get registration key" before it will show the V3 for downloads

Double check I missed it the first time I saw it as well.

Finding Download

I suppose I will have to re-register my scanner. Just using my log on and password, I got the list of scanner models only.

From the Uniden Website... pasted below...

Firmware updates for the BCD396T and BCD996T scanners are now located on your “All My Scanners” page. When you register a scanner, the latest firmware version available for that scanner is linked in the “Latest Firmware” column. These downloads are no longer kept in the “My Downloads” area.
If you have not yet entered an ESN and ESN checksum for your scanner, the latest firmware link will be to the firmware version that enables these functions on your scanner. You must apply this update before applying a Version 2 or later update.
Once you apply the version that provides the ESN and checksum, register that information for the scanner. After you enter this information you will be given a link to get a Version 2 registration key for that scanner.
Once you retrieve your Version 2 registration key, you will be given a link to get the latest Version 2 firmware.
Read all release notes for each download before applying the update. They provide important information and instructions for applying the update, as well as troubleshooting tips in case you run into a problem.

I think this is the same problem i had. If you already have v2 and you don't see the "get v3 registration key" only your scanner info and v2 update try clearing your cookies, temporary files and history. It worked for me i don't know why.

Once your in the Uniden site should only take a minute to register your scanner (if you have the serial number checksum etc etc

Julian, I fought the same problem for my 396. Don't feel bad, the system is not very straight forward. Long time since I talked to you.
