Thank you!

I also don't know how does 4-lvl FSK discriminator works, is there a line from receiver SPEAKER output to it? and it done some A/D conversion?

Do all receivers with Speaker OUT could work with 4-lvl FSK discriminator?
Just a line from SP-OUT to 4-lvl FSK discriminator and a power supply are enough?

I sorry for my poor English........

Short answer - I'm not aware of any.

First, please don't say "4 level FSK discriminator". You are combining two different things.

There should be two wires from the receiver - signal and ground. The signal can't come from the speaker. These programs use a discriminator tap and a data slicer. Yes, the 4 level FSK decoder acts like a 2 bit A to D converter.

Do all receivers with Speaker OUT could work with 4-lvl FSK discriminator?

No, the speaker audio has too much filtering applied. The waveform would be too distorted to be useful.

Just a line from SP-OUT to 4-lvl FSK discriminator and a power supply are enough?

Just to be clear ... the "discriminator" is the portion of the FM receiver that produces baseband audio. In other words, it is demodulated ... but has not yet been filtered. A 4 level FSK decoder accepts the discriminator audio (but not the filtered audio) as input. Most folks find the discriminator output inside the radio and add two wires ... signal and ground. So yes two wires (but not "SP-OUT") would work.

Thank you again!

The info is very useful for me!

I just got a ALINCO DJ-X1 receiver and it had two wires from inside, it works for a paging company at one time, I think it must be used for decoding monitor, so I think the two wires from DJ-X1 inside are signal and ground. If not, how could I find where the signal point from DJ-X1 should I make a wire out? Is it near the Audio or RX part?

Thank you!

so almost all the receivers and transreceivers can make discriminator tap if I can find correct pin in the discriminator circuit? Thanks!

PDW decodes POCSAG/FLEX/RAM-MOBITEX/ERMES and now ACARS, all using a sound card or serial interface. It's good software and free, but you'll still need to tap the FM discriminator chip in your scanner.

Decoding common carrier pager transmissions is illegal ... if you are in the USA. I have no idea what the laws say for someone living in Beijing, China.

Plus there's no law against discussing it. What someone else does with the info is their responsibility.

What a breath of fresh air! Much better said than just telling someone it's illegal and end of discussion.
