• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Is there much CB action around Toronto or GTA

I am about 20k north of Markham and have been listening on my way to and from work without hearing much at all. I have been scanning through all 40 without much luck.

I haven't heard much at all driving from Richmond Hill to Port Hope, but did catch the OPP using it while escorting a wide load through Richmond Hill just last week. Other than that, it's pretty quiet.

thanks, I bought it a few years ago for a US trip then put it away. I just recently re-installed it in my vehicle and haven't been hearing much other than skip.
Do you know if the highway truckers are still using them on the 4-hundred series highways? edit i guess you already answered that, sorry.

Heard some chatter on channels 19, 37 and 39 during my drive out to Port Hope on Saturday, and one poor trucker on ch. 6 who kept looking for someone to talk to over and over and over again.

That is encouraging to hear that something is going on on the highways.I am hearing some talk on 19 during my trip to work in Markham between 6 and 7am but not much on the way home.
I did hear lots of DX on the weekend. Florida, Texas etc but not much local chat.

Unfortunately the skip is on 19 as well and makes hearing local traffic on channel 19 AM that much more difficult. Does your area have a "local" channel for truckers? Maybe they're on that.

I say do some more scanning, my friend. :)

I had a great 10 minute chat with a guy on the way to work this morning. No big deal to some but it was my first real conversation on a CB in about 30 years.
