Outdoor VHF-Hi/UHF Scanner Antenna

Is this a good antenna for my Pro-97 HandHeld scanner? How far do you think it will go?

It says "Find what you need to come in loud and clear.
Covers 108-1300MHz with peak performance occurring in the 152-470MHz range. "

Is it better than the custom scanner antenna that came with my Pro-97, or is it a LITTLE better, or a LOT better. There isn't anything around here to scan so I want to buy a new antenna. I would like to have it reach things about 150 miles.

Here is the info on the pro97 from this site I bought it from. I don't know anything about my antenna. Can someone look on that site, and tell me what my antenna is, and then tell me if that antenna I want is a good deal, or not.

THANKS.

Croaker.

In my answer to your 'range' question (another thread in this forum), I had asked a couple of questions, and you've answered some of them, but not nearly enough. While it is better than the little duckie that the 97 comes with, 150 miles is really pushing it, depending on the freq of interest. It might help if we knew what it was you were trying to hear, something about the elevation and terrain, and how high the antenna can be mounted. Height, in this game, plays a very big role indeed. Please see that thread for other questions - and an important fact - that would need to be answered before even a half educated answer can be attempted.
