I think some of you are already overlooking the fact that the two new models include $110 worth of DMR/NXDN upgrades, which would have to be added to the base price of the 325P2 or 996P2 before you can make a fair comparison in price difference.

Patiently waiting for "I don't want or need DMR or NXDN so that $110 of upgrades means nothing to me", or something like that.

Yup. So it seems pretty simple. If you don't need DMR or NXDN (included, at least), but need P25, buy the 325/996P2. If you don't need any digital at all, buy the 125AT/15X. If you're part of the niche group that only cares about conventional analog/DMR/NXDN, these two scanners are the models for you.

Everyone else is just complaining for the sake of complaining, or posting incoherent rants every couple of days. :cautious:

i want to say, over the last year I keep hearing Conventional is going to phase out for p25 phase 2, and now I'm hearing the railroads will phase out Conventional for nxdn or dmr, my hospital here in town a hobbyist was saying she wished the hospital had radios like dmr or ndxn, so i encourage everyone who wants a new scanner to buy the 160 or 260 if it fits your needs I like it because of the 25 service searches, as for the other stuff, well i do know the railroads out here are not changing out fast enough however for me sccanning the amateur bands or air bands i still pick up nothing, but it doesn't mean i will give up, just means I can slog on.

if I was going to spend the money I would spend it on the 160 and 260 only because of certain features it has. i also would buy it for nxdn and dmr when and if it came to my area, its all just a waiting game anyways.

i still toying with spending the money on both, just because i can

DMR and NXDN can be conventional so I’m not sure where you would hear that?

If railroads do go NXDN, it will most likely be conventional. In fact, a lot of yards are already using conventional NXDN.

For those wondering about the price of the BCD260DN, Bearcat Warehouse has posted the BCD260DN on their website with a price of $349.99. It also says "COMING EARLY 2024" and "ON BACKORDER ARRIVING SOON."

For comparison purposes, Bearcat Warehouse's price for the BCD996P2 is currently $379.99. FWIW

List price/MSRP, more than likely.

Price will be high for the people that just gotta be first in line (and the first to complain). Price will probably drop after a bit.

But, but, but, those are "free!"

1000 channels in 2023 ? That might have made sense over 20 years ago but not now. Even some cheap Chinese HT's come with more memory than that. I'd also ditch NXDN and just include P25 + DMR.

Hi I’m looking for anyone else that is Beta testing these 2 new models besides The Scanner Guys
Johnathan and Rich! Would like to know other than a couple upgrades how does reception compare to the
BC125AT? So far Johnathan has only said that he has used the stock antenna and it’s ok!!!🤷🏻‍♂️
