Is this some sort of frequency highjack?

Alright, I had my local bus company channel held on my scanner, with no tone, even though they do use a privacy tone, simply because it seems with it, VOX recorders cut the beginning off.

I got this strange recording, where this one guy seems to make fun of the driver.

Though what's weird is how that person doesn't seem to be heard by Dispatch or that Driver, who both I would think would tell that person to stop, especially with how I know this company works. Normally Dispatch will yell at you just for making a few funny noises, let alone anything like this.

Also, the audio sounds way different when the voice talks than either the Driver or Dispatch.

WARNING: Recording is somewhat racial. Mainly "N-Word" used.

Seems to be Same Voice recorded before:

EDIT: Yes, I realize that I spelled hijack wrong in the title, but I guess it's too late to fix.

My guess is he is transmitting without PL and doesn't realize that they are using PL Decode on their radios and dispatch.

Report the jackass and give them copies of the recordings.

Or if they can hear him they're ignoring him. As should be done with any jammer on any frequency. Talking to them only eggs them on.

But I do agree with KB0NLY, give them the recordings and let them pursue it from there.

Well then I guess it is a jammer after all...

The main reason I wanted some other opinions, was because, I was not 100% sure if it even was a jammer.

Though I've been listening to this company for a while (2 years, not straight though) and never heard anyone talk like that.

I guess it just amazed me at first, because even though I know anyone can buy a transceiver, it just amazed me that anyone in my area would care to do it, especially to the local transit.

Though, I should not be amazed because when I was in High School, a kid brought in a handie-talkie that talked on the school frequency and I had to laugh at the Vice-Principal (oddly enough we had two Vice-Principals).

The Vice-Prinical came in to the room (I was a student in the same room) and said he thought someone stole a school handie-talkie, but he was explained no, but then he did not choose to take the HT off of the students. Maybe he should have told them about the FCC $10,000 fine for each time.

Here the school uses MURS channel 5, which as we all know is a license free band now. They used to get messed with all the time, back when Rat Shack was selling MURS radios on special it was a huge problem, so they put PL on their radios, at least they don't have to listen to the little buggers now, but they still try to annoy them, keying over them, etc. Not a whole lot can be done because they aren't doing anything wrong having the radio and using that frequency.

The school originally got licensed for the frequency back in the DOT frequency days, so i don't know if they are afforded any special grandfathered rights other than being able to run more power than allowed by MURS. They have one base radio in the school office which is a 25w, all the portables are 5w.

. . . .Not a whole lot can be done because they aren't doing anything wrong having the radio and using that frequency. . . .

Although the prosecution would be more difficult than worthwhile, intentional interference is still illegal even on the license free bands. Yep, you guessed it $10,000 per occurrence.

"License free" does not mean "rule free"!

The problem is its hard to prove and prosecute. That's happened more than once around here already. MURS got busy when Rat Shack started selling those cheapie chinese handhelds for $60.

I know this is an old thread

I know this is an old thread but I have new information on this issue.

I believe that this hijacker is back, but this time, seems to be working before the transit authority opens and beings to use their radios.

My question is, does anyone have any idea what all that background noise can be? Compared to all the other people talking in hijacking.mp3, the person in question sounds 100% different. It's like they are louder and like less static.

Are they most likely using more power?
