NJSP System North

There has been some outside inference to the system for the past 2-3 weeks. It may have been NY State’s OpenSky system in test mod (with STA’s) transmitting from Todt Hill, in SI. They were operating on frequencies that are used in the Troop B system. As of Christmas Eve the test sites, have been taken of the air by NYS

typical motorola

this is typical for motorola, they are so far behind with software development its amazing that any of their systems works at all. trunked radio systems were developed for spectrum efficeincy only not for communications reliability or interoperability.

Well, that's why people here on the forums were claimimg to hear OpenSky in North Jersey about 2 months ago! I even heard it myself the last time I was working in Kearny...

interference

this interference has been wrecking havoc on the north system, much worse then any nextel interference since it is system wide. I wonder if there is anyone conducting these tests that has any knowledge of RF and that RF does not recogonize state boundries. they are probably a bunch of computer geeks. FCC if your reading this PLEASE reinstitute some level of licensing to work on and maintain RF equipment, the real radio technicians would welcome this.

I wonder how much "work" the FCC puts in when they receive an application. I guess they figure the applicant will do it for them.

In the amateur world the FCC does not get involved unless there is someone deliberately and consistantly causing interference and the person refues to cooperate.
