I'm far from a pessimest, but I'm just curious as to how ready you think Tulsa is to handle an extremely large scale incident. In wake of todays tragedy at VT I got to thinking would that have gone the same way had TPD handled the call. I know alot of us on here are or were public safety officials, or are very aquainted with how it all works. Just curious to everyones opinions. And for everyones sake lets not get political and flame on each other please!

What happened in Vermont? I guess you are meaning Virginia right? It could have gone the same way had ANYONE handled the call since it seems like it was all over and done with pretty quickly. I haven't read all of the news reports yet though.

One thing you need to keep in mind is that the first people on the scene in that situation are the campus police departments. It's more of how THEY are going to handle the call, not TPD. Just here in the Tulsa metro area there are college campus police departments and I don't know much about them other than naturally they are small.

The people who REALLY know how ready Tulsa is to handle an incident like this don't post on this board. :) Besides, it looks like TPD is still trying to evalute the "riot" incident up north from the other day.

yes VT = Virginia Tech, and I know the campus police would be the first to respond, but the staff got hit pretty hard by the press for not evacuating the campus after the first shooting took place. I'm guessing tulsa schools would go on "lockdown", and the college would probably follow suit by keeping the students in their respective locations??
