I've been listening to RISCON (all zones) for many many months now on my SDS200. Why don't I ever hear any calls from the Westerly fire dept?? Are they simply not using RISCON and using their old analog channels? I hear every other town in the state on RISCON except Westerly. I live in Cranston, which is too far away to hear conventional freqs from down that way.

I don't believe that their conventional VHF channels are linked to the RISCON even though they have a dedicated TG. Same for Westerly EMS

The fire districts in Westerly use their own conventional system for day-to-day ops. Westerly ambulance does the same. Both agencies have access to RISCON. Westerly PD is fulltime on RISCON.

There are a few municipalities that are not using RISCON unless it's for an event or mutual aid. Bristol FD/PD, Warren FD/PD, WGFD, Foster FD/PD, Hope Valley FD/EMS, Pawtucket PD/FD and Cumberland FD/PD/EMS all operate their own conventional system for day-to-day ops. Oh yeah, add Cranston and Warwick PD's to that list also.

All cities, towns and state agencies have access to RISCON. Whether they use it is their own choice.

Barrington PD is still using their VHF and Fire is on their VHF except on mutual aid to East Providence or other RISCON users, then they use RISCON. All that looks to be changing in the next couple of months though........

No. WGFD is on UHF and the link to low band has been down for a long time.

Thanks, I'll try again. I can get Exeter loud and clear that's why I thought I should be hearing WGFD.

I can hear the "HianLoLand" UHF here in Mass fairly clearly. I would think you should have no issue with it.
